Ever wonder why courtroom images litter most news ‘stories’ when the law explicitly prohibits such actions? The scenes are staged, it’s usually a photographer’s set! Or why courtroom television is now being proposed for Britain by none other than politicians agreeing it’s the right-thing to do when they’re lawyers to a man and know better?
It’s all an illusion as Mr. Icke alludes, mass media are not required to tell truths, they report only facts so they’re licensed to present a different world on the broadsheet and small screen from the real cosmos. It doesn’t matter if a story is genuine or not for media to sink their teeth in, if you wish to re-blog or share it, you’re absolved of complicity in fraud due to the fact you’re simply reporting that it’s been published.
Linked bloggers are well practised at copy writing and embellish each tale with their own brand of zip but Reuters and AP links churn out the best fiction, which is most often based on provocative pre-reporting. Take the latest OWS-style protest that isn’t, Istanbul’s parkside Mexican Standoff.
One must dive in at the deep end, Turkey’s deputy prime minister can’t possibly be such a silly twerp that he’d choose the worst time ever to make wild claims about Jews in the middle of this pretend uprising. Of course he’s smarter than that, NEWZ scripwriters are merely spreading that drama out on two fronts for future reference/muckraking.
For Western market consumption, there’s a good dose of racial instigation with the George Zimmerman character having his ‘open’ media trial along with the supposed whistleblower who globe-trots as Edward Snowden but actually inhabits a Green screen like an everyman Jason Bourne. Relax, you and I, we are not important enough to be data bugged or trawled and this new-age hero is a raging flop to those who outed him on Day 1 of this latest oeuvre.
We could go on naming other macabre tales masquerading as factual events in the ‘news cycle’ but that assists a marketing virus festering at the heart of this plague of fiction. Media is merely stimulating market consumption in security related products and services and toying with people’s fear/tolerance threshold. Treyvon Martin only exists in Newz, nobody in the real world killed the actor who is playing him in published images.
So what are they selling on the back of the Snowden Snow Job? Unpalatable newsprint for one and enough clicks on their websites to keep advertisers contented. The entire media is abuzz with the story of the Bolivian plane being grounded in Austria in search of Simple Ed as the global Dragnet closes in on ‘our’ hero. And what exactly did he blow the whistle on? His sense of self-importance in stating the blatantly bloody obvious?
Hailed or hanged, the Snowden character is pure soap opera thrusting an ironic sting in the tail. US taxpayers spent trillions funding those super spy programs so few can complain that they didn’t get what they paid for. As media hagiography cum cautionary tale, it also serves to menace and remind that ‘you can run but not hide’! Charming
